Epi Island Guesthouse is situated on 13 acres of lush tropical gardens, with a tranquil lagoon and a private white sand beach. A cool mountain stream enters the lagoon Epi Island Guesthouse to one side of the house. The owners, Rob and Alix Crapper, build the Guesthouse from local timbers, the house is large, cool and comfortable. We offer a unique opportunity to experience the outer islands in all their untouched beauty and simplicity, from the comfort of a completely modern house, a rarity in Vanuatu. The Guesthouse is a perfect place for travelers who want to spend the quality time of their holiday in a peace and quiet place. The charming Guesthouse hand built from local timbers and materials; we grow all our own organic food and have a micro hydropower supply. We have a private white sand beach, small bay and excellent snorkeling with many local tours available - all provided by a nearby contemporary village with friendly locals. The waterfall tour is a little more energetic, but well worth the effort to walk Waterfall through the rainforest behind the guesthouse, past more local gardens, to a beautiful mountain stream waterfall with a large pool. You can travel by taxi truck up with west coast of Epi, passing through many small villages and stunning scenery on the way to Lamen Bay and swim in the tranquil waters of Lamen Bay with a tame dugong and sea turtles, before lunching on traditional island fare at the Sunset Bungalows. We have throughout our lives been practical environmentalists by minimising our impact on natural resources.

Green Comment:

Epi Island Guest House aerials view considered by many Europeans as one of Vanuatu most beautiful islands. The Epi is 46 kms from end to end, and 19 kms at is broadest point. It is a half hour flight from Port Vila, with airstrips at Valesdir and Lamen Bay. It has many white and black sand beaches, an extremely fertile coast mostly covered by coconut plantations, with many villages scattered along it’s shores. Although it was one of the first islands to receive European settlement, and remnants of these days can be found with ruins of houses and outbuildings scattering the island, these days Epi is quiet, with very little development, and we at the Guesthouse are the only Europeans living on Epi full time. The Guesthouse is powered by eco-friendly micro-hydro electricity, we have all the mod cons to ensure you feel right at home, with the wilds of Epi right at the door. All meals are lovingly prepared from local meat and seafood, and the freshest of fruits and vegetables, grown in our own organic garden. You can enjoy the water sports on the beach snorkelling, with stunning coral gardens and fish life. You can enjoy the romantic sunset by a fire at our private beach, sleep out under the stars, beach barbeques. Guesthouse project has four core objectives: 1. To question and evaluate everything done in building the guesthouse in terms of ecological responsibility. 2. To offer all employment opportunities related to building and operating the guesthouse first to the indigenous people and to help ensure that all tours be owned and operated by locals. 3. To provide Guests with the purest environmental and cultural experience possible, using homegrown organic foods and involving local interaction etc. 4. To self-finance everything.
