At the top of “Hells Kloof Pass”, the Five Assegais Country Estate is a respite to after the 400 meter climb from the base of the Komati Valley. An exclusive luxury country house, the lodge has a very private and cozy atmosphere that is very reminiscent of country life. Trout fishing and brisk walking are the two of the most sought-after activities of visiting guests. In the surrounding area, gum plantations and wild wattle groves have proliferated across the vicinity of the facility.

For many years, the property has been neglected and was infested by alien invaders devastating the grassland. The owners of the lodge has trimmed down the wattles around the area and has now seen an improvement in the area – the rise of the water table, the growth of now undisturbed natural vegetation, co-habitation of bird and animal species in the area. The facility prides itself as a fishing and wildlife venue of note and as desirable luxury country retreat half way to the Kruger Park.
