Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill are both very private bush homes. They are both located on their own game reserves in the magnificent, malaria-free Waterberg region of the Limpopo province in South Africa. The Aim of the hotel is to provide our guests a unique safari experience, offering a wide range of activities to keep everyone entertained, from the youngest to the oldest, the fittest to those most in need of a rest. You can enjoy fabulous game viewing in a variety of ways: a) Guided game walks, from a gentle stroll down the plains to a more strenuous hike over rugged hills, which enable you to gain a detailed knowledge of African fauna and flora. b) Game drives in open 4 wheel drive Land-cruisers, which allow you to cover more ground and experience wildlife in a traditional but less energetic way. c) We have 60 horses so can offer some of the most exciting game viewing on horseback in Africa, whatever your age or riding ability. Our reserves are ones of diverse topography and vegetation ranging from wide-open plains to beautiful mountainous areas, enabling us to naturally sustain the widest variety of game possible. They boast over 40 species of game including Sable Antelope, Nyala, Oryx, Eland, Giraffe, (disease free) Buffalo, White Rhino and well over 300 species of resident and migrant birds.

Green Comment:

Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill are owned and run by Ant and Tessa Baber. The Baber families were one of the earliest pioneers in the area, settling here in 1886. In the mid 1990’s Ant and Tessa renovated an old ranch house, which became Ant’s Nest and, in 2003, built Ant’s Hill above a spectacular gorge, designing each room to make the most of the magnificent view. As a passionate conservationist they started to develop the two private game reserves, allowing them to become the paradise they are today.Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill have chosen ACO as our local charity, we have over the last couple of years donated cash and meat directly for the soup kitchen as well as over 100 blankets for impoverished families. We were recently informed that there is a growing demand to contribute more towards the education of many of these under privileged children and have taken it upon ourselves to donate monthly towards the funding of education .The lodges also sponsor 3 local children by paying for their education at the Waterberg Academy which is the local private school. We are members of the Waterberg Nature Conservancy, which is made up of numerous private game reserves covering an area of 150 000ha. This all falls within the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. The Biosphere Reserve promotes conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources within its boundaries.
