The Green House on the Hill in NewZealand, is surrounded by trees in a quiet, woodland setting with views of the sea, city and Cape Kidnappers. The Green House on the Hill offers friendly, smoke-free accommodation for your visit to Hawkes Bay. The Green House offers a separate guest floor with 3 rooms. The One Queen bedded room with en-suite; 2 queen bedded rooms (can accommodate an extra bed if required) sharing new bathroom facilities. The place is very quiet, eco friendly, vegetarian owned B&B, in woodland setting only 5 minutes walk from the heart of 'Art Deco' Napier. We try to monitor energy consumption to decrease if possible. We endeavor to evaluate and implement energy saving practices, e.g. Guest fridges and towel rails switched off and rooms are unheated when vacant. All the light bulbs have been changed to low energy compact fluorescent bulbs. In winter use of dehumidifier after rooms are vacated means that rooms heat more easily.

The Green House set amongst mature trees with plenty of native birds to be heard and even the odd Possum sighting. The use of local facilities is actively encouraged and Ruth and Jerry endeavour to act responsibly environmentally from recycling or composting to using local products as much as possible. The Green House on the Hill is 5 minutes walk from the heart of Art Deco Napier, surrounded by trees in a quiet, woodland setting with views of the sea, city and Cape Kidnappers. The Green house has green policy to make environment clean and green. Water saving practices is in place - we use a front-loading washing machine and only operate the dishwasher and washing machines when full. The toilets are fitted with half flush button and all sinks have plugs. Where possible items no longer required are donated to local good causes. We strive to use Local organic produce and 'Buy New Zealand made' products whenever possible. We grow some of our own produce and compost our kitchen waste. We reduce the use of office consumable where possible, reuse A4 paper when only used on one side, save electronic copied instead of paper ones. All the kitchen scraps are composted. The compost is then added to our veggie garden. All the Tins, glass, plastics and cardboard are all recycled. Wherever possible items are purchased in bulk to reduce packaging.
