Esk Valley lodge, NewZealand, is just 12 km North of Napier on SH5, Napier-Taupo road, 2km from the intersection with SH2, the Napier- Gisborne Road. Peace and privacy are a key feature yet we are only 15 minutes from Art Deco Napier and the vineyards of Hawkes Bay. Our rooms are named after the grapes grown in the vineyard and are tastefully decorated with quality linen and fittings and recycled Rimu timber is used throughout. The Sauvignon Suite is a self-contained suite consisting of bedroom with King Bed, veranda overlooking vineyards and gardens, separate lounge and separate bathroom. The Riesling room consists of twin King single beds and ensuite. All rooms have heat pumps, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, TV and DVD, wireless Internet access.The guests can wander the gardens, pick fruit for the table or play Petanque, Lawn darts and other games or just relax. Breakfasts are a feature with local fruits and home made preserves and yoghurt to start with and an extensive choice of cooked items. We do rainwater collection; wastewater channeled into garden, modern septic tank system, dual flush toilets, and low pressure showers. We compost heap and worm farm for organic waste, plastics glass, metals recycled, we choose suppliers that do not use excessive, if any, packaging, much of our produce (fruit and vegetables) produced on site.

Esk Valley Lodge is set in nearly 7 Hectares (18 Acres). About 5 Hectares are for the vineyard the rest is for orchards and ornamental gardens, which gives a terrific view to the guest to explore the natural surroundings. The orchard (to the east of the house) contains a wide variety of fruit including 6 kinds of Apple,7 kinds of Pear,7 kinds of Plum, 5 kinds of Peach,5 varieties of Apricot, 3 Varieties of Nectarine, 2 Varieties of Cherry, 4 varieties of Orange, 3 varieties of Mandarin, 2 sorts of lemon, 2 varieties of Lime, 3 Kinds of Olive, 2 types of grapefruit plus Blackcurrants, Almonds, Chestnuts, Greengages, gooseberries, White Sapote. Guests are invited to wander the orchard and pick fruit as desired. The trees are grown without the use of artificial sprays so can be eaten straight off the tree. We use our own and local produce whenever possible including eggs from our chickens and fruit and vegetables from the garden. An evening platter is available for those guests who have had a busy day walking the hills, swimming at the beaches or partaking in the many wine and food delights of Hawkes Bay. Esk Valley Lodge is an environmentally friendly operation that uses sustainable practices. We use energy efficient appliances e.g. heat pumps, CFC, alternative heating e.g. wood, automatic switches, use of "centameter" which continuously monitors electricity usage, logs of energy use.
