Clarenden Home in NewZealand, is located on 64 hectares regenerating native New Zealand bush with 180-degree views from lounge and towards Koromiko Valley. The Eco Stay and environment friendly place is just 10 min drive to Picton, the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds and a 20 minute drive to Blenheim in the heart of the Marlborough wine district.The home has easy access to the Queen Charlotte Sounds walking tracks and leisure pursuits in the Marlborough Sounds. The 2kms of private walking track on the property with green and non-polluted views to Marlborough Wine District and the Wairau Plains. Our home not only respects the environment, it also supports us in creating the lifestyle. The principle features of Clarenden are that it is 100% ‘off the grid’.This means we have no connection to the national power grid; all our electricity is generated on-site using a combination of solar panels and a micro hydro-electric water turbine with water from the stream. Interactive power usage monitoring allows us, at the press of a button, to see what power is being generated, used and stored. During the cooler months, a wood-burning fi re provides heating for the whole house and additionally provides hot water when the sun isn’t shining. Combined with our solar hot water system, we are assured of abundant hot water all year round.

Clareden home is a two-bedroom house with fully resourced kitchen, sleeping up to six people. The Large outside covered deck with spa with magnificent views over valley from private and secluded location. The traditional house with modern day comforts: all appliances are 240 volt with modern necessities of fridge, lighting and appliances.Clarenden is a completely "off the grid", renewable energy-powered Eco-Stay situated on an 125 Acre property. Clarenden was designed and built using green building principles. The house is orientated to maximize solar gain, with locally obtained wool to maximize insulation. The low energy LED and Compact-Fluoro lighting is used throughout together with plant based eco-friendly paints. We are now able to recycle vegetable and suitable food waste using an insinkerator. Waste either feeds the Biolytix worm farm or becomes composting. Tins, glasses, paper and cardboard are recycled by the first curbside recycling project in Marlborough. Every appliance that is used must be examined for its energy efficiency. Every gain in efficiency reduces the size and therefore cost of your power generation system.Clarenden Eco-Stay encompasses the principles of both environmentally-friendly construction and on-going operation – giving you the broadest experience of eco-living within a short time.
