With the backdrop of Lake Niassa, the Nkwichi lodge is a nature lover’s paradise complete with lush greenery set amidst the contrasting fresh water of the lake. Alongside the lodge lies the Manda Wilderness Community Conservation Area home to a number of African species set in a 120,000-hectare expansive area. The lodge offers a variety of activities like trekking, snorkelling and bird watching in this unspoilt environment.

The Nkwichi lodge has been given accolades for its responsible tourism thrusts by most tourism establishments. The institution helps the local villages surrounding the area by constructing schools, clinics and churches as well as sourcing materials from their end. They employ state-of-the-art grey water pits that drain into “eco-composting pits” that are the used to filter the tap. As well, the lodge is completely solar powered and are utilized in all rooms. Dead wood is collected from the vicinity and are used to heat the water in its chalets.
