Riad Porte Royale is in the spiritual heart of the medina, a traditional courtyard house that is situated in a friendly residential quarter of mansions, palaces and boutique hotels. Guests can get a glimpse of the local customs and traditions by traversing the outside of the hotel – by the piles of mint and herbs, the numerous dough being carried around by local baker and even see the craft of the town tailor! The hotel comprises of a loggia, five bedrooms, and a large central courtyard with splash pool mirrors and a dramatic “porte royale”.

The Riad capitalizes on its large open windows for lighting and heating to be absorbed into the rooms, thus lessening the need for indoor lighting. Also, the lodge prides itself for sourcing local food for its guests, mostly vegan and vegetarian, for their consumption. Renewable furnishings that highlight the local custom and tradition of the area are also used by the lodge. Being a quaint accommodation with less than ten rooms, it recycles materials wherever possible and needed as well as offer local employment to most residents within the area.
