Udayana Eco Lodge has developed environmentally friendly buildings with the use of solar power for hot water, pumps and some lighting, an extensive rainwater storage system, and the use of a biological sewage treatment plant where all waste water is returned to the gardens through irrigation. The university has also granted lodge a protected area where an attempt is made to protect all birds, butterflies, wildlife and plants. There are a large and diverse number of birds recorded in the grounds of The Lodge.
