Green Comment:

Finca Rosa Blanca Country Inn crowns the Central Highlands of Costa Rica, offering an exciting destination where the adventurous and curious traveler will experience the history and cultivation of coffee in Costa Rica and the museums, music, arts and culture of the local communities. The Inn offers two extraordinary master suites, and eleven elegant yet whimsical junior suites, four of which can be united to form two spacious villas. All of our luxurious rooms include Jacuzzi baths and mini bars as well as private verandas overlooking the lovely Central Valley. You can enjoy the perfect climate while you discover the misty cloud forests of the volcanoes surrounding our coffee plantation, experience wild rivers, waterfalls and canopy tours in the towering trees and encounter the wildlife of the national parks including the rare quetzal, tapirs and peccaries in a green and environmentally friendly place. You can hike or ride horses through lush verdant coffee plantations with our knowledgeable guides and learn the intricacies of growing and roasting organic coffee while becoming an expert in “cupping” some of the world’s best beans. We offer a free Sustainability Tour of the Farm and the hotel where the many aspects of the Costa Rican Certification of Sustainable Tourism (CST) program are explained and experienced. The Inn seeks to demonstrate that sustainability can be incorporated into an upscale hotel setting by combining elements of environmental conservation, education, training, luxury, community development and innovative building techniques. The Inn heats all of its water with solar panels including the swimming pool. Solar panels to heat water coupled with energy saving auxiliary on demand heating systems. Underground electrical systems that do not interfere with surrounding wildlife or endanger the coffee workers. We use only energy saving bulbs and devices and encourage our guests and employees through written materials and oral to save energy also. We use solar drying areas for our laundry and skylights throughout the buildings to avoid electric use during the day and for solar heat.

Finca Rosa Blanca Country Inn is located in Heredia, in the region of Heredia of Costa Rica . This country, with respect to its size, is one of the most advanced in the world regarding the management of its waste .
For decades, Costa Rica has been plagued with deforestation, but has made plenty of effort to reduce the amount of forest that is cut down and often abandoned. Because the country is very agricultural and known for its export of food, including corn and bananas, there is a great need for land to farm and produce these crops. However, the country has made use of the forest land and actually began to utilize the shade that is created by the canopy in order to successfully grow the necessary crops. This not only saves space, but greatly reduces the amount of pesticides used to protect the produce . Heredia more specifically is a city whose inhabitants are mobilizing more and more in order to implement local solutions to limit one way or another their ecological footprint .
